Find Your Skin Type

Skin type is the baseline; concerns layer on top. Get the type right and product choice gets dramatically easier.

The bare-face test

Wash with a gentle cleanser, pat dry, wait 60 minutes. Tight = dry. Shiny all over = oily. T-zone shiny, cheeks normal = combination. Red or stinging = sensitive. Tight but flaking despite oil = dehydrated.

Oily skin

Lightweight gel moisturizers, niacinamide, BHA. Skip heavy oils. COSRX Oil-Free Moisturizer, Laneige Water Bank Gel.

Dry skin

Cream-based cleansers, occlusives (squalane, shea), ceramides. CeraVe PM, Laneige Water Bank Cream.

Combination skin

Zone-based application — heavier on cheeks, lighter on T-zone. Belif Aqua Bomb works everywhere.

Sensitive skin

Centella, panthenol, oat. Avoid fragrance and essential oils. Skin1004 Madagascar Centella, La Roche-Posay Toleriane.

Dehydrated skin

Hyaluronic acid layering, ceramides, sleeping masks. Torriden DIVE-IN serum.
